If traveling through the San Joaquin Valley on Highway 99 or heading to Yosemite of Highway 140, The Branding Iron is a wonderful stopping-off restaurant for lunch or dinner. Its western decor provides over 200 historic and present-day brands from ranches and dairies up and down the Valley which are posted around the perimeter of its all-wood, beamed dining room and cocktail lounge. The cocktail lounge is made entirely of redwood and offers a quiet, comfortable atmosphere. Patio seating is also offered during good weather.
It's banquet rooms are beautifully appointed and available by appointment. The "Crystal Room" holds 150 people and the "Tiffany Room" can entertain up to 40 guests.
The Branding Iron has been in existence since 1952, and has been the subject of two articles by Sunset Magazine. It is known for its fresh fish, lamb, chicken, and beef entrees, particularly its savory prime rib. The Gazpacho, a cold Spanish soup, is made fresh daily, and is very popular. Their toasted Parmesan Bread, using sourdough rolls from a Basque Bakery in nearby Fresno, is also a specialty of the house.
